Red Ribbon Week

We are proud of our door!
Swoosh...Keep your head in the game

The theme for Red Ribbon Week is "Get your head in the Game". The students took pictures with a basketball and wrote about...How we can keep our heads in the game? The writing papers turned out fantastic. We will find out soon, if we placed in the contest. Enjoy the pictures.

Reading with Fluency and Expression!!

We have been working so hard on reading fluently. Not just fast but with expression and automaticity. Reading using question marks, peroids and exclamation points. We read chorally, echo reading (repeat after me) and independently to increase our fluency. We have been using reading passages and cute poems to practice fluency. Here are some pictures...note the faces, they are adorable and trying so hard!

Grandparent's Day and Celebration

In September, we celebrated Grandparent's Day in our Class. We had a full house of wonderful guest. We began by singing songs, reading poems and presenting our Grandparents' with cards and crafts. The children worked with their grandparents on making a Fall Family Tree. I will post a picture of this bulletin board as soon as it is completed. We finished the morning with donuts, muffins, cookies and juice. Thanks to all the special guest. A BIG thank you to those families that sent in juice, donuts and muffins.
WE LOVE OUR FAMILIES!

First Day of School in Mrs. Leaphart's Class

Wow, school is back in already! What a quick summer. It is nice to be back with all the smiling faces, new clothes and a brand new school. Memorial Elementary is a beautiful campus. We are very lucky to be involved in this adventure.
We had a great first day of school. We spent most of the day learning the rules and procedures of our classroom and school. Pretty boring but very essential to a great year. We are a HAART class. This is very short for advanced academics. Our class is composed of high to high-average students. We will be learning many new things and I am looking forward to a great year. Please feel free to check into the blog and see what we are doing in class. Please feel free to make comments as well.
Thanks and I am excited about working with your children,
Mrs. Leaphart
